SchoolBell 1.1 Release Candidate
================================
It is my pleasure to announce the release of the first SchoolBell 1.1
Release Candidate. There are still two weeks until the final release and
we would like to make it the best possible. SO PLEASE TEST IT and report
bugs either to the mailing list or our issue tracker at [1].
Currently there is only a tarball released [2], but I think there will
soon be files for mac and windows users.
Some new goodies in this release are:
* RESTive interface
* Internationalization
(Including a surprising amount of translations from Rosetta)
* User interface improvements
* Time zone awareness
* Support for Allday events
* Atom feed support for upcoming events, by accessing ../calendar/atom.xml
* Support for iCalendar VFREEBUSY component
* A read only view and notes for events
Thanks to all those who made this possible.
A word on translations
======================
It has been quite surprising the number of translations for SchoolBell I
found on rosetta [3,4] when I recently started look at it. There has
been quite some work to update and use these translations in SchoolBell,
but there are still some teething problems. We hope to sort these out
and include as many translations as possible in SchoolBell before the
final release. So I suppose this is also a call for SchoolBell
translations.
SchoolTool Calendar (0.10)
=========================
Unfortunately the release schedule of SchoolTool Calendar has slipped a
bit and we should be able to announce a release candidate in about a
week or so. Luckily our schedule has some padding in it with two weeks
of testing, so we should be able to get in one week of testing and
release on time. (Though it still makes the "long suffering release
manager" grumpy [5])
