In all reality, wedding ourselves to Ubuntu/Debian is not a problem, if
someone wants it for rpm based distros they can figure out how to get it
compiled and packaged.  As an upstream provider, our job should be to
put out a tar.gz and maybe a binary package for the distro we care most
about (and given Mark Shuttleworth's involvement in SchoolTool, this
isn't even a question...)
